About US:

Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a
statutory body established by UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide
for the control and development of technically sound and scientific
meteorological services in Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Senior Technician will ensure smooth
operations of all Telecommunications Infrastructure of UNMA.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Makes certain that the maintenance and operation
of all Electro-mechanical and Electronic systems at the Authority
infrastructures are supportive of the operations of UNMA;

·       
Monitors, reviews and reports on the activities
of service providers and contractors hired by UNMA for electrical and
electronic contracts’ works and services;

·       
Ensures that electrical safety codes and other
associate regulations are in place and adhered to;

·       
Prepares regular operational status reports on
the electro-mechanical and electronic systems and security in line with the
UNMA mission; and

·       
Supervises and appraises Technicians in his/her
section.

·       
Prepares work plans and maintains schedules of
all instruments and electronic installations.

·       
Ensures maintenance of a log book for all
equipment and activities undertaken by the technical section with regard to
repairs and maintenance.

·       
Responsible for planning on job training for
junior officers and users of equipment and services.

·       
Oversees the implementation of the design and
modification of instruments according to agreed specification and requirements.

·       
Supervises the maintenance of regular equipment
service requirements.

·       
Oversees day to day operations of all workshops
and log book for repair tools and kit

·       
Performing any other duties as may be assigned
from time to time by the supervisor.

Key Results

·       
Inventory of equipment

·       
Maintenance Programme for all UNMA equipment.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal candidate for the Uganda National
Meteorological Authority (UNMA) Senior Technician job must hold a Higher
Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical
from a recognized institution.

·       
A Bachelors in Telecommunications, Electricals
or Electronic engineering is an added advantage

·       
A minimum of four years of experience in a
reputable organization.

·       
Good knowledge of GSM Microwave systems

·       
Ability to diagnose and trouble shoot faults in
electro-mechanical systems

·       
Team player

·       
Age: 30 years and above
