Southern and Eastern
Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) Uganda is a Pan
African Civil Society Organization founded in 2001, with a major aim to
strengthen stakeholders’ capacity to influence trade, tax, and related policies
and processes through research, advocacy, training and information sharing.
Over the years, SEATINI-Uganda has, through working with stakeholders, both
state and son-state actors, lobbied and contributed to efforts to promote Regional
Integration, Continental Unity and meaningful integration of Africa in general
and Uganda in particular in the global economy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Collaborate
with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy
based on our target audience.

·       
Oversee
the maintenance of all SEATINI-Ug data base (both online and offline) including
the website, list serves and social media accounts

·       
Provide
vision, purpose and advice to SEATINI-Ug on strategic priorities and approaches
that advocate/ sensitize communities on trade, tax, and related policies and
processes through research, advocacy, training and information sharing, women’s
empowerment and rights, as well as gender equality. This involves coming up
with the best approaches for organizational relations, community mobilization,
awareness creation, and organizing stakeholder briefings and events with and on
behalf of SEATINI-Ug.

·       
Oversee
the development and dissemination of knowledge through production of
communications tools and other knowledge products such as newsletters, stories
of change booklets, and end of project documentation reports, photo story
books, departmental and annual reports and training resources.

·       
Write,
edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website
content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that
communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services.

·       
Respond
to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the
organization.

·       
Establish
and maintain effective relationships with journalists, media houses, and
maintain a media database.

·       
Facilitate
communication with all partners using all appropriate channels such as the
website, newsletter, email, advertising etc. including the Board, Media, Key
Line Government Ministries, Development Partners, Project Beneficiaries, like
minded individuals and organisations, as well as the general public.

·       
Support
departmental staff for effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of
projects through regular telephone calls, email communication and face to face
interactions.

·       
Monitor
and analyze policy framework issues affecting SEATINI-Ug work whilst
consequently advising on relevant advocacy issues.

·       
Seek
opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity
events as required.

·       
Maintain
records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

·       
Proficiency
in design and publishing software.

·       
Manage
conflict as it arises and escalate to management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in communications,
journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations, or a
related field.

·       
At least
three to five years of relevant experience in a communications and
documentation role.

·       
Knowledge
of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).

·       
Excellent
verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

·       
Good
time management and organizational skills.

·       
Good IT
skills, including databases and office software packages;

·       
Proficient
in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.

·       
Fluency
in English is required. Knowledge in any other official language will be an
additional advantage.
