About US:
Crown Beverages Limited was founded and incorporated as Lake Victoria Bottling Company on 29th March 1950. Then, the Uganda government owned the majority shares while a few elite indigenous Ugandans owned the minority shares. In 1965, LVBC became the Pepsi Cola franchise in Uganda and started bottling global soft drinks including; Pepsi, Mirinda, Gingerly among others. In December 1997, CBL went into joint ownership with International Pepsi Cola Bottling Investments, (IPCBI) of South Africa, who bought 51% shares in the CBL and injected in more capital and also had a controlling team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Quality Assurance Shift Supervisor
The Quality Controller will be responsible for:
Process monitoring and control:
- Carrying out timely laboratory quality tests on all process inputs and the product using approved procedures.
- Carrying out sensory evaluation for online products and export product whenever required.
Food Safety:
- Monitoring CIP schedules and supervising the CIP process to ascertain if it is carried out effectively.
Plant Quality:
- Carrying out proficiency tests on samples sent from the bio-lab.
- Carrying out reagent preparation effectively and timely.
Handling of Non-Conforming In-Process Products
- Identifying and handling non-conforming product /materials appropriately as per defined procedure.
Equipment Care and Handling:
- Calibrating laboratory equipment at required frequencies to ensure accurate measurements.
- Reporting of faulty equipment and ensuring timely follow up of the repairs / replacement.
Auditing:
- Carrying out monthly internal audits as may be assigned and submit timely report.
- Ensuring timely closure of audit non-conformances.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Science Technology (chemistry/biology), Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Professional training such as Quality Management Systems or FSSC 22000 is an added advantage
- At least two years of related experience in food processing and manufacturing.
