Job Title: Area Sales Manager (5 Job Opportunities)

Duty Station: Mbale, Jinja, Fort portal, Masaka, Kampala Outer, Uganda – Regular attendance is required at SPOUTS field office and at times Spouts Head Office
Reports to: Direct Sales Manager.
Responsible for: management of a variety of sales operations across specified jurisdiction including line management of Sales Team Leaders and other sales channels within his/her jurisdiction.
Special conditions: Primarily a Field based job but some travel will be required between the SPOUTS head office, the factory at Nakawuka and other parts of Uganda in response to the demands of the sales and marketing program.

SPOUTS of Water Ltd is a social venture that locally manufactures and distributes effective ceramic water filters to improve the access to clean drinking water sustainably in Uganda. In addition, we locally manufacture free hand-washing stations to improve access to hygiene. Our mission is to provide clean drinking water and hygiene services to all East Africans. We currently sell multiple water filter products under the brand name “Purifaaya”. The Purifaaya provides financial, social, and health benefits for its customers in addition to environmental benefits.
Job Summary: The Area Sales Manager is responsible for maximising the sales potential of SPOUTS within the assigned region by developing strategic sales plans to expand the customer base, build the Purifaaya as a preferred water filter in Uganda and ensure the achievement of growth and performance targets for the sales team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the positioning of the company’s sales activities in order to capitalise on business opportunities to achieve and sustain sales targets in line with company objectives.
- Contribute as a member of management to SPOUTS’ strategic planning and decision making.
- Support the Team Leader with defining the requisite number of Direct Sales
Representatives for his/her area depending on the opportunity assessment activity.
- Drive while inspiring the sales team leaders within your region to achieve their daily sales targets and reporting standards as set out by the business
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with sales activities.
- Ensure area/regional set targets are achieved.
- Act as the direct liaison between the sales team and the rest of the organization; advocate for needs and requests of the sales team to the Direct Sales Manager as well as other relevant SPOUTS staff.
- Drive Customer satisfaction within your territory
- Anticipate emerging issues based on changing supply and demand trends and feedback from the market and propose innovative responses to keep abreast of changes.
Develop and maintain key customer and partner relationships to expand SPOUTS’ customer base and ensure recognition of the Purifaaya as a preferred water filter product in Uganda.
- Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to grow sales and expand market penetration, particularly within all sales channels.
- Identify emerging markets, market shifts and potential conflicts, ensuring a timely response to achieve positive outcomes for existing and potential customers.
Complete sales operational requirements
- Ensure the preparation and reporting of accurate sales, revenue and expenses reports
- Analyse trends and results in relation to goals and present realistic forecasts to the management team.
- Ensure accountability and proper use of company assets within your region.
- Maintain data relating to partners, accounts and activities and document key partner interactions.
- Ensure that all reporting of sales metrics is regarded as a priority by sales staff and that accurate and current information is available to reflect business results at all times.
- Ensure use of company systems within your area e.g., Odoo ERP and associate tools.
Undertake employee management in order to deliver quality performance outcomes across the sales department.
- Manage, develop, coach, control, and motivate the sales force to develop their skill to ensure that a high professional standard is achieved and monthly sales targets are met.
- Ensure there is a mechanism in place to monitor individual performance, assess progress and provide feedback to support individual development.
- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team and manage the sales program accordingly, including undertaking recruitment and coordinating training as required to expand the sales program.
Demonstrate corporate responsibility.
- Always act in a manner consistent with SPOUTS’ values.
- Comply with the SPOUTS’ standards of conduct and all applicable policies and legislation.
- Represent SPOUTS in public and official forums, functions and joint ventures as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any business-related field
- At least four years’ experience in a highly competitive sales/business – related environment
- Preferably 30 – 35 years of age
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to identify opportunities and chase them
- Extensive proven experience managing and directing a sales program, people Management, recruitment & managing direct sales agents, field collections, customer relationship management and achieving sales targets, particularly in a developing country.
- Language’s requirements: High level of competence in spoken and written English language and additional 2 other spoken languages as per the particularly stated regions.
