About US:

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.

 

Job Summary: The Management Trainee – Security Analyst is responsible for the planning and implementing security measures based on analysed threat intelligence to protect computer systems, networks and data for GoU Agencies

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement security measures based on approved threat intelligence
  • Produces cyber intelligence reports communicating technical issues to a broad audience including information security staff, non-technical business representatives and senior management
  • Provide cyber intelligence training through expert understanding of tactics, techniques, and procedures of cyber threat actors
  • Support cross-team initiatives to help implement cybersecurity improvements in MDAs and Critical Information operators
  • Conduct research on emerging security threats
  • Perform daily review of cyber threat warnings, bulletins ad threat intelligence sharing communities
  • Perform any other duties that may assigned from time to time



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information Security or a related field from a recognized university is required (mandatory)
  • Any training in cybersecurity or threat intelligence is required (mandatory)
  • Knowledge in python programming is an added advantage
  • One year of working experience in any ICT related role.
  • General knowledge in conducting information security testing
  • General knowledge of information security best practices and cyber intelligence
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Protocols, network analysis and network security applications
  • Able to prioritize and co-ordinate work streams/projects to drive delivery tasks
  • Able to create win-win solutions that delivery greater overall benefit
  • A resilient team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, who is willing to take responsibility leading and working with others to create breakthrough solutions to complex problems
  • Strong attention to detail
