Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer will manage the financial resources of the Bank and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the different stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, facilitate and monitor the Bank’s strategy, annual operating plans and capital budgets
- Ensure that all Board Committee decisions on finance and treasury matters are implemented and provide leadership to the department for proper management of the Bank’s financial assets
- Oversee the timely update of the fixed assets register, and ensure that assets purchased are capitalized and depreciated correctly.
- Ensure that proper books of accounts are kept and maintained
- Oversee preparation of financial statements and distribution to the different stakeholders
- Manage the Bank’s tax liability and compliance;
- Ensure timely and reliable financial reporting to Bank of Uganda, Group Finance, EXCO and the Board.
- Oversee the review of financial statements by external auditors and ensure implementation of initiatives to address areas of weaknesses highlighted.
- Participate in transformational activities aimed at empowering staff and clients in such a way that they become agents of social, spiritual, Political and economic transformation in their own communities.
- Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and development of the Finance team ensuring the team is effective and motivated.
- Liaise with the HR department in conducting performance appraisals and ensure competency and training gaps are addressed.
- Identify of risk factors and establish or implement established mechanists for the detection and prevention of and resolution of arising risks.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank’s internal policies, external regulations, and the risk management framework of the Bank.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Member of a professional Accounting body, ACCA or CPA
- Seven years of professional experience in finance and accounting, three years at Management or Supervisory level.

- Computer skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Creativity in product development and pricing
