Job Summary:  The Project Management Intern is responsible for providing administrative and substantive support to ACJPS’ programmes (human rights monitoring programme and advocacy programme). This includes providing research, drafting and editing support for publications as well as donor applications and reports, and ensuring their timely distribution. The Project Management Intern maintains the website of the organisation and contact databases and provides other support as necessary.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and distributing press releases on urgent human rights issues in Sudan.
  • Providing drafting, editing and layout assistance for ACJPS publications, as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining the ACJPS website and social media presence in cooperation with the Program officer.
  • Drafting concept notes for project activities
  • Preparing first drafts of narrative reports for donors and liaising with the organisation’s Finance Manager to ensure preparation of the relevant financial reports.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support for the conduct of ACJPS conferences, workshops and other events.
  • Providing support to the Program officer in advocacy activities as needed.
  • Supporting the smooth administration of the organisation, including building and maintaining effective electronic and paper filing systems and other administrative
  • Perform other tasks as required.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in law, human rights or related fields;
  • At least one year experience in performing similar tasks;
  • Sound knowledge and experience of working on a range of human rights issues; exposure to and knowledge of the human rights and political context in Sudan;
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources and assess impacts on the human rights situation in the country.
  • Excellent communication (spoken, written and presentational) skills, including the ability to produce a variety of written reports in a clear, concise style.
  • Excellent time keeping skills and ability to establish priorities and to plan work assignments, juggle competing demands and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel.
  • Familiarity with international human rights law frameworks
