IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research, Laboratory services (including the CAP-certified IDI Core Lab & Translational Lab), Global Health Security and Health System Strengthening.

 

Job Summary:  The Pharmacist Trainee KKP-KHP-PHARMA will support the Project coordinator in the enhancement of pharmacovigilance activities at Baylor COE, Mildmay and Fort Portal, Lira, Mbarara and Kawaala referral hospitals for the project.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools to be used in the monitoring of pharmacovigilance activities at the different sites
  • Support facilities in development of pharmacovigilance work plans for their sites
  • Participate in the timely generation of adverse event reports from the different facilities and timely submission to NDA
  • Contribute to generation of summary reports and dissemination between facilities and promoting learning from success stories at different facilities
  • Participate in national pharmacovigilance committees and meetings as called upon.
  • Keep abreast with new knowledge in the global arena of pharmacovigilance and findings from other settings that can be used to strengthen the project’s activities.
  • Participate in weekly and biweekly progress meetings as scheduled
  • Participate and contribute to generation of monthly and quarterly reports
  • Coordinating technical aspects related to the projects targets
  • Performing other duties as assigned.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
  • One year of experience preferably during internship
  • Experience related to working with the district health systems and MoH.
  • Registration with the pharmacy council, Uganda.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles, practices, equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan law regulating pharmacology and the use of controlled substances
  • Knowledge of proper record keeping practices when managing ARV’s and in analysis and reporting of data for Programme decision-making
  • Good report / proposal writing and presentation skills.
