offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and
Japan. In Uganda since 1989, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani,
Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat implementing programs
in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition
and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala. FH’s
primary goal is to end all forms of poverty worldwide.

Job Summary: The
Nutrition Assistant will support the management of nutrition related health
activities and cases through supporting patients, advising mothers on nutrition
and working with the Nutritionist to ensure improved awareness and proper
management of malnutrition cases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Support
admission and discharge of malnutrition cases following properly laid down
standards

·       
Actively
participate in the community outreach activities for sensitization, nutritional
awareness, screening and enrolment into various programs of children < 5
years, pregnant and lactating mothers.

·       
Prepare
and support the feeding of malnutrition patients under observation in the
paediatric wards.

·       
Responsible
for case management of malnourished patients and ensure that all routine
medication is administered appropriately

·       
Build
capacity and advise in-patients/parents/guardians on proper care and nutrition
at home.

·       
Build
the Capacity of VHTs and CNVs in Nutritional screening, case detection and
referral.

·       
Weigh
and take height of children under the age of five to monitor and ensure early
detection of malnutrition cases

·       
Ensure
all malnourished children have child health cards and that their immunization
is up to date.

·       
Conduct
cooking demonstrations for preparing balanced, hygienic and nutritionally rich
foods for children below 5 years.

·       
Prepare
and submit malnutrition reports from both in- patient and out- patient
departments.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
Diploma
Nutrition/Food Science Technology degree; Public Health or Human Nutrition.

·       
Experience
in Nutritional Assessments and working in a humanitarian context.

·       
Minimum
of three years of experience required.

·       
Must
have excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

·       
Must
have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to
access communities by motorcycle
