Sozo Children International is a Christian non-government organization operates multiple children’s homes in Uganda, providing quality care to children through a well experienced and trained team of Ugandan care-givers, the children of Sozo are loved, nurtured, and equipped with proper nutrition, healthcare, quality education, spiritual development and life skills to impact positive lives.

 

Job Summary:  The position holder has a responsibility to oversee & lead all aspects of the finance of the organisation to ensure financial accountability & excellence.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s Degree of Business Administration (Finance) or equivalent experience will be added advantage
  • Fully qualified & certified profession accountant
  • At least seven years’ experience working directly in a Christ-centered, child – focused NGO is desired
  • Three to five years in senior management in an NGO setting, preferably in a multi -donor and grant funded environment
  • Must be a born-again Christi an and possess the discernment to gather and communicate information about physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs and supervise a team to implement services to meet those needs
  • Strong analytical skills and experience
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and QuickBooks
  • Experience in services related to payroll such as writing checks, submitting payroll & taxes
  • Strong understanding of business and tax worksheets and computations
  • Proven fundraising and network chain development skills
  • Proven ability to resolve issues in a calm and efficient manner with excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact well with different cultures
  • Excellent problem- solving skills, extremely collegial and leads by example
  • A hands-on servant leader with integrity and a passion for the organization’s mission is essential
