Job Summary: International Lifeline Fund (Lifeline) is seeking for competent person to work as a Driver to support our WASH and EverFlow programs on Logistic and Transport.
Position Description: The WASH support Driver is primarily responsible for the transportation of Lifeline staff and materials and keeping a vehicle assigned to him/her in a good mechanical condition. As a WASH support driver s/he is additionally required to perform technical tasks to execute lifeline WASH program with a high standard of quality. The WASH support Driver shall work closely with Lifeline Senior WASH Technical Advisor including receiving assignments and Job related orders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing transportation for lifeline staff and goods in assigned Lifeline vehicle
- Completing trips both inside and outside Otuke/ Apac District when requested, on weekends and/or outside working hours
- Maintaining a log book of journeys taken, fuel consumed and distance travelled as well as recording all the services and repairs done
- Conducting regular spot checks on vehicles, oil levels, tyre pressure and fluids (Wipers, radiator, hydraulics)
- Fuelling vehicles when required and authorised and providing receipts
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean including interior, exterior and engine
- Ensuring vehicle registration, number plates, drivers licences and insurance are kept up-to-date
- Assist in loading and offloading of materials from vehicles and insurance are kept up to date
- Reporting faults and accidents immediately to the supervisor and completing and accident report
- Driving in a safe and responsible manner I compliance with all traffic laws and Lifeline rules; ensure to hold valid permits all the time
- Assist logistics in making purchases and delivering payments
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Mechanics:
- Trouble shooting mechanical faults
- Report any mechanical fault to supervisor immediately and list on appropriate form the details of the fault, spares needed and the urgency level
- Being present when Lifeline vehicles are taken for repair at designated garages.
- Maintenance of generators, motorcycle and drilling rigs when needed
- Maintaining properly the mechanical tools inventory of Lifeline inside the vehicle
WASH:
- Assist as a crew member of the Lifeline Drilling Crew
- Witness subcontractors drilling and hydro operations and ensure that they comply with Lifeline’s requirement
- Execute rehabilitation and other hydro tasks when required (e.g. pumping test, pump installation, borehole development, slab casting)
- Keep Lifeline’s equipment in good working condition and report any issues immediately
- Assist hand pump mechanics working on Lifeline sponsored boreholes
- Any other duty assigned from Senior Program Manager or Lifeline Senior WASH Technical Advisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Valid driving Licence
- Five years’ experience preferably working with NGOs
- Minimum of O Level Certificate
- Certificate in Mechanics from recognised institution will be A plus
- Good command of English language both spoken and written
- Knowledge of Local language (Langi) is an added advantage
- Certificate in defensive driving a plus.
- Must be mentally stable
- Good team player and time manager,
Position Details: This position will support programs in Apac, Otuke or Lira, Uganda and requires frequent visits to project sites
