Job Title: Program Assistant (Supporting Japan-Bound Students)

Organisation: Ashinaga Foundation

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports To: Program Coordinator (Japan-bound students).

Base Salary: $250-$450 USD p/m (dependent on experience, negotiable).

 

About US:

Ashinaga is a Japanese non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides support and education for orphaned students around the world.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support on the consultation, application, and study support for Japan-bound students (30%).
  • Support students regarding their plans, subject of study in Japanese Universities and university applications.
  • Support with the management of the preparation year for all students.
  • Assist with the development of curriculum and scheduling in coordination with other staff.
  • Support the recruitment team with the recruitment of students. This includes screening applications and conducting interviews.
  • Providing support with marketing, promotion and fundraising as required.
  • Recruiting, supervising and guiding interns as required.
  • Assisting with the development and alignment of any of Ashinaga Uganda’s programs.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Knowledge and work experience in the Japanese system of higher education (experience in taking entrance examinations of Japanese Universities or studying at Japanese universities is preferred).
  • Having a student-focused approach and a willingness to adopt teaching materials and methods.
  • Be flexible and able to work in a dynamic and new environment.
  • Easily work in a culturally diverse office environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations and relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills.
  • A willingness to do clerical desk work.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Advanced with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have the right to live and work in Uganda.
  • Experience with IELTS, SAT or ACT.
  • Degree in education, African Studies, International Development or related degrees.
  • Experience in tutoring or teaching.
  • Fluent English.
  • Portuguese, Japanese or French proficiency.
  • Work experience in the education sector.
  • Capable of photo shooting, SNS or making contents for promotion.
