Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, government and non-government agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. The organisation works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.
The Uganda office has been active since 2003 and supports a large and diverse country programme. Malaria Consortium is keen to build on its success in Uganda to continue to strengthen and expand its work relating to malaria and other communicable disease control in support of Uganda’s National Health Service delivery and disease control targets. Malaria Consortium Uganda seeks an ambitious and dynamic individual to provide technical support and oversight to monitoring and evaluation (M & E) activities in the Malaria Consortium Uganda country programme.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
· Degree / Postgraduate degree in public health (with focus on epidemiology/bio-statistics) or a pertinent social science discipline such as demography
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in public health in developing countries within government, an international organization or research institution
· Significant experience in the management of project M&E systems
· Significant experience in survey design and implementation
· Proficient in the development of data entry programmes and in using statistical analysis software (EpiInfo, EpiData, Excel, Access, Stata)
· Experienced in applying qualitative methods of data collection and analysis
· Familiar with Uganda’s routine HMIS
· Excellent writing and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop and present effective presentations
· Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time within the country with the possibility of occasional regional travel
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
