Job summary:
Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid (HIJRA) is a humanitarian and development organization that aims to positively contribute towards improving the living standards and conditions of those adversely affected by disasters and conflict in the East and Horn of Africa. Our work involves provision of clean and accessible water supply, sanitation facilities, promotion of health/hygiene, food security and education programs. HIJRA is dedicated and committed to reconstruction of community livelihoods through its direct contacts with the communities.
Program Officer (1 POST)
Reporting to the Executive Director, the primary function of this position is to provide technical assistance.
Other tasks and responsibilities:
  • Write/review proposals, prepare and scrutinize draft budgets, prepare plans of action and work plans for project implementation within water, sanitation/ hygiene promotion, livelihood and environment, enhance technical capacities of Field Officers,
  • Prepare quality progress reports, specific to the projects being managed for submission to the donor/funding agencies, and HIJRA’s senior management, ensure timely delivery of assistance and supplies,
  • Monitor the appropriate and effective use of HIJRA’s resources/inputs, certify disbursement of cash for activities implementation together with Field Officers,
  • Establish and maintain a regular contact with the local authorities and other NGOs operating in the area to collect desirable information, identify problems and constraints, in order to ensure effective project delivery.
  • S/he will also conducts monitoring and evaluation
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Should have a University Degree in Social Works and Social Administration, Public Administration or Economics,
  • 5  Years of experience in related field, must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well organized and capable of functioning effectively in a very independent situation.
  • S/he should possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, must have supervisory skills, productive and creative, high standard of ethics and integrity.
  • Management process to ensure its safeguarding and proper disbursement.
  • Manage and review the monthly close of the accounts and monitor cash flows.
  • S/he will also prepare the monthly financial results to ensure effective communication of results to the management and provide the management with regular financial analysis on numerous financial issues.
