Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid (HIJRA) is a humanitarian and development organization that aims to positively contribute towards improving the living standards and conditions of those adversely affected by disasters and conflict in the East and Horn of Africa. Our work involves provision of clean and accessible water supply, sanitation facilities, promotion of health/hygiene, food security and education programs. HIJRA is dedicated and committed to reconstruction of community livelihoods through its direct contacts with the communities.
Field Officer (1 Post)
Reporting to the Program Officer,
The position holder will provide support to the Program Officer in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of program operations in Uganda.
Other tasks and responsibilities:
  • Facilitate effective site management through communication and coordination with the target community in activity implementation,
  • Build the capacities of the vulnerable community members and help them to form committees- in water, sanitation and hygiene promotion related activities,
  • Promote behavior change for improved safe water, sanitation and hygiene through appropriate mobilization of the communities in the program target areas,
  • Ensure the planned activities are well implemented to achieve the set objectives through routine supervision,
  • Establish and maintain regular contacts with the community groups, committees and overall program beneficiaries,
  • Work in collaboration with the Program Officer and the sector heads in the program implementation, monitoring and evaluation,
  • Assist the program officer in ensuring that field reports are submitted on time to enhance preparation of donor reports for timely submission.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Should have a University Degree in Social Works and Social Administration, Public Administration or Economics, 
  • Must have a minimum of 4 year experience as a Field Officer, 
  • Demonstrate experience in the areas of field programs development, management and implementation, data collection and analysis and outcomes reporting. 
  • Has to be productive and creative, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, 
  • Have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population and community-based agencies 
Desired: Uganda nationals.Swahili language would be an advantage
