Our client Umeme Limited is a major investment of Actis’ Infrastructure 2 fund. Actis is a leading investor in the emerging markets, investing exclusively in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Presently Actis manages over US$4.8bn worth of investment on behalf of more than 100 institutional investors. The Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom, a UK Government-owned company, is the largest investor in Actis’ infrastructure 2 fund and as such has a relationship with Umeme Ltd indirectly through Actis.

Talent and Skills Development Manager
The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification, planning and implementation of capacity-building initiatives in Umeme.
Key responsibilities
·         Leadership and Talent pipelines/matrices – Working with HR Transformation Manager to understand people requirements for the organization over a mid to long term horizon
·         Technical and non-technical skills development and training – Individual and group needs are (annually) identified, plans developed, approved, budgeted for; and implemented and evaluated.
·         Be the custodian of Performance Management procedure and integrate all outputs into the Annual Training Plan to improve current employees performance and develop them for future roles
·         Ensure Succession takes place through Talent Management policy, consultation and planning with HoDs
·         Manage Promotions framework
·         Career counselling, development, and management
·         Manage all other Learning and development process such as experiential learning/job rotation, Education, In-service trainees, and bursars and graduates
·         Put in place process to identify, track, grow and report on talent at all levels
·         Identify and manage all sources and external vendors of learning, coaching, training and education
·         Ensure that experienced talent is retained
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
·         At least six (6) years relevant post qualification, at least three (3) of which must be in a leadership role
·         Degree in Human Resource or other degree (Social Science, Commerce, Business Administration) coupled with post graduate qualification in Human Resource
·         Preferably a Master’s degree or further post-graduate qualification specializing in a related field
·         A thorough knowledge of Human Resource Management
