We are retained by the Uganda National Charter of Commerce and Industry, UNCCI to identify competent Ugandans to fill the posts below based at the Secretariat Offices in Kampala, Uganda. UNCCI is the oldest and largest nation-wide umbrella organization of the private sector in Uganda. UNCCI was set in 1933; but established in 1978 under the Companies Act, Cap 110 as a company limited by guarantee with no share capital, to become a leading private sector body in Uganda with an influential network for business opportunities. Its mission is to provide services and advocacy to create a conducive and sustainable business environment in Uganda. In implementing its programs, the Chamber collaborates and networks with various local, regional and international partners and affiliates. Our Client is looking for highly motivated, creative and competent persons to lead its strategic programs (enshrined in its Strategic Plan, 2010-15). They must be able to innovate to make UNCCI vibrant and productive. The posts are tenable for a period of three (3) years and carry competitive benefits
Secretary General
Reporting to the Board, the Secretary General will be responsible for the overall leadership, development, coordination, promotion and management of UNCCI programs; and for providing technical support to the Board.
Main responsibilities:-
· Support the Board in the development and implementation of policies for the effective management of UNCCI
· Spearhead strategic plan implementation and its processes to ensure a strategic focus towards the attainment of the organization’s mandate and objectives; and to advise the Board on appropriate strategic agenda
· Managing and working in business and private sector context ordination of planning and implementation of the organization’s programs and activities in relation to its strategic objectives and plans.
· Ensure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services maintain a strong and positive image to relevant stakeholders
· Ensure implementation of work plan in accordance with the annual and strategic plan
· Carry out the day-to-day management of UNCCI including the recruitment, supervision and support of the organization’s staff.
· Raise Chamber profile and visibility for the creation of a positive and vibrant collaboration and strong partnership.
· Prepare, present annual budget of section for Board approval; and be responsible for its implementation.
· Coordinate fundraising activities for program activities.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
· University degree in economics, finance, or related fields
· Additional requirements include a postgraduate diploma in any of the following disciplines: financial management, human resource management, public administration, general management and/or project planning and management
· Experience in strategic planning and execution.
· Experience formulating objectives, standards and procedures.
· Knowledge of negotiation and administration of contracts and legal aspects of a corporation.
· Working knowledge and experience developing budgets and using cost control techniques.
· Knowledge of public relations principles and practices.
· Knowledge of communication and public relation techniques
· Good computer skills
· At least 5 years hands-on experience managing organizations at top level
· Proven track record of leadership and management at senior level with responsibility for managing professional staff of not less than 3 years.
