National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities

Job Title: Transport and Logistics Assistant
Salary Scale: NMS SCALE 5
Reports to: Transport and Logistics Officer
Location of office: Entebbe.
Purpose of the job: To ensure that vehicles and Ware house equipment are kept in good wording condition at all times through planning and execution of repairs and preventive maintenance.
Key Result Areas/ Accountabilities.
· To undertake routine monthly service for corporation vehicles.
· To inspect vehicles before and after use and undertake minor repairs in line with NMS procedures.
· Prepare National Medical Stores vehicle repair orders and spot check vehicles repair progress from garages or spot check vehicle working conditions in line with NMS set guidelines.
· To follow up NMS vehicle registration, licensing and motor vehicle insurance claims in line with set departmental guidelines.
· To prepare budgets, for fuel and other logistics per vehicle in line with NMS set Guidelines.
· To prepare, supervise and allocate duties to Drivers/Dispatch Assistants as per section activity schedule.
· To supervise the timely and efficient loading of supplies from the Dispatch warehouse in line with the set departmental guidelines.
· To develop daily, weekly, monthly annual maintenance plans for vehicles and ware house equipment.
· To arrange equipment (e.g spares, tools and materials) in collaboration with the Head of stores.
· To control maintenance activities- periodic checks, standard engineering practices, root cause analysis and corrective action
· To ensure proper maintenance and repair of vehicles and warehouse equipment.
· To undertake regular general checks of vehicles and recommend to garages for specific repairs to be made
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
· An ordinary diploma in mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institution.
· Must be Computer literate with proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word.
· POrior knowledge of any other database management systems will be added advantage.
· Must be able to understand the various practical aspects of maintenance work flow, and maintenance documentation.
· At least three years maintenance experience of motor motor vehicle and equipment management in a reputable organisation.
· High degree of integrity, honesty, flexibility demonstrates commitment and attention to details.
