About Malaria Consortium:
Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, government and non-government agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. The organisation works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.
Malaria Consortium Uganda works on reducing the burden of childhood illness specifically malaria, pneumonia, diarrhoea and other communicable diseases. Our main areas of interventions involve health system strengthening, malaria control through prevention, diagnostics and case management, operational research and advocacy. The organisation has continued to strengthen and broaden the scope of its operations in Uganda and has worked in almost every district in the country since its inception in 2004.
Job Purpose: The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of project activities in Uganda, ensuring consistency with the overall multi-country programme’s performance framework, and in line with Malaria Consortium’s core values.

Key Result Areas:
1. Project Management: Work with the country project team, other relevant personnel in the country office and the Regional Programme Coordinator to lead activities in country for smooth project start up and project planning.
2. Technical Contributions: Work with the country project teams and the Country Technical Coordinator to determine technical support needs that are needed to implement the project effectively and with high quality.
3. Technical Performance Management and Quality Assurance: Work with the Technical Programme Coordinator and Regional Programme Coordinator to put in place a system to assure the quality of the work, participate in monitoring the performance of the programme and keep abreast with evidence and best practices that are related to the project.
4. Representation: Work with the Country Director or Country Technical Coordinator to participate in national level meetings and workshops to represent Malaria Consortium at programmatic and coordination events as well as keep key national stakeholders abreast with the project.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         A post graduate degree in public health or other health related discipline
·         At least 5 to 7 years’ experience of working at national level in Uganda or similar developing country setting, of which at least 3 to 5 years is direct work experience in a project management capacity.
·         Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
·         Budget management experience including donor reporting
·         Familiarity with the Ugandan health system
·         A qualification in project management or equivalent
·         Proven experience in risk management
·         Proficient in project management software, such as MS Project
·         Experience working in the private health care sector or other profit oriented business
·         Familiar with current malaria case management practices
·         Demonstrable experience and capacity in effective monitoring and evaluation, including data analysis and interpretation relating to both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, documentation and dissemination
·         Experience in designing and implementing behaviour change  communications strategies or similar marketing experience
·         Knowledge of adult education principles and methodologies
