Finance Jobs – Project Accountant at ASARECA

About ASARECA:
Our client, The Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) is a sub-regional not-for-profit association. It was established in 1994 by 11 member countries represented by their national agricultural research for development institutes. The major objective of ASARECA is to develop policies and programs aimed at deepening co-operation in agricultural research and policy among its member countries for the mutual benefit of all the stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Perform the day-day financial management duties within ASARECA, (including payments, posting to accounting system, reconciliations, payroll processing);
· Maintain an accurate and an up-to-date sub-grant disbursement and accountability tracking systems;
· Monitor sub-grant disbursements and report on the details of the accountabilities;
· Provide financial technical support to the programmes during the preparation/ appraisal of projects;
· Produce within agreed time frames and in standard formats, monthly financial statements and financial management reports to aide management decision making;
· To prepare financial accounts including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts; and
· To prepare necessary audit schedules required to facilitate financial audits.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have:
· Five (5) years of experience in an accounting role in a busy public or private organization;
· Experience in financial and accounting procedures of Donor funded projects is an essential requirement;
· Practical experience in the use of accounting software preferably SUN systems ; and Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
· We are looking for a candidate with a Degree in Commerce (accounting), Business Administration (accounting), Accounting, or Finance from a recognised university or its equivalent.
· The person should be a fully qualified Accountant CPA, ACCA, CIMA with full
Membership or Affiliate / final stages towards full membership to an
Accounting professional body.
