against world poverty. Our client DFID Uganda seeks to recruit dynamic,
experienced and adaptable individuals to join its Country team.
Job Summary: The Deputy Programme Manager will
be based in the Corporate Effectiveness Team which is responsible for ensuring
excellence and best practice across the office, coordination and planning, risk
monitoring, management and reporting.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Support the design of the financial
    and management arrangements for all new programmes in accordance with DFID
    procedures.
  • Ensure programme reviews are
    planned, carried out to a high standard and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor the quality of the programme
    portfolio.
  • Coordinate relationships with UK
    funded Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Society Organisations.
  • Contribute to results and corporate
    reporting to ensure DFID Uganda is meeting its results commitments.
  • Contribute to policy discussions and
    submissions.
  • Support the UK strategic
    communications team with case studies, facts and figures and briefings.
  • Effectively manage at least one
    large and complex programme, ensuring results and value for money.
  • Attend conferences, workshops and
    meetings when required.
  • Provide information to the
    Departmental Finance Officer that will feed into financial corporate
    returns.
  • Ensure all projects/programmes are
    in line with corporate guidance; Due Diligence, fraud and risk.
Qualifications, Skills
& Experience:
  • A Bachelor Degree in Social
    Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications in Project
    Management and Administration are an added advantage.
  • Experience in monitoring and
    ensuring compliance to organisational policies procedures and standards.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience
    managing programmes or projects.
  • Extensive experience of working with
    Government, multi-lateral agencies, Civil Society Organisations and
    development partners to identify problems/obstacles and develop / implement
    practical solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of Project Cycle
    Management
  • Strong financial management
    knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively as part
    of a team to deliver results.
  • Ability to see through delegated
    decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal
    communication skills.
