focused on supporting communities in fulfilment of their economic rights and
achievement of sustainable livelihoods, conflict resolution and peace building,
natural resource management and good governance. Our operations are guided by

transparency. CARE programming is shifting from project (short term) to programme
(long term) approach. The Country Office completed the design of the Women
Empowerment in Natural Resource Governance (WENG) and Northern Uganda Women
Empowerment Programme (NUWEP) both multi-years (10-15years) programmes. The
WENG programme presently consists of two sub-programmes; Forest Resources
Sector Transparency (FOREST) Programme and Securing Batwa Health, Education,
Agriculture and Land Rights (HEAL). Each of the sub programmes is led by a CARE
Sub programme Manager, and implemented in partnership with a key strategic
civil society partners. The NUWEP programme implementation is focused on
supporting specific vulnerable positions of the communities (Impact Groups) in
their achievement of lasting positive change in overcoming poverty and social justice.
The programme impact population are women and girls of reproductive age
affected by conflict in Northern Uganda.
Job Summary: The Grants
Coordinator is to monitor the two sub-programme’s financial support to partner
organisations and to assist these organisations in maintaining and improving
effective financial and general organizational management systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain overview of partnership
    agreement, budgets, grants and accounts.
  • Monitor payments to partners and their
    financial reporting; process approved accounts and payments; maintain
    overview of monthly levels of programme expenditure.
  • Keep regular overview over finance reports
    produced by CARE’s global financial management system, report to
    management on budget deviations and revise budget in system when required.
    Assist partner organisations in budgeting and in maintaining accounts and
    other financial controls train and assist to improve these.
  • Assist partner in developing and
    maintaining other sound organisational management systems – such as
    organisation structure and human resource management systems.
  • Participate in partner financial systems
    screening process when selecting new partner organisations.
 Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • A bachelors’ degree in Business
    Administration, Finance, Accounting or BCOM and/ or Professional
    Accounting qualification like CPA, CIMA, ACCA Level 1.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience
    from financial management of development projects or at a middle or senior
    management level in accounting, auditing and grant management.
  • Experiences with working in a partnership
    approach and supporting civil society.
  • Good verbal and written communication
    skills in English.
  • Computer skills (email, word processing,
    spreadsheets, financial management systems).
  • Highly motivated to maintain a regular
    dialogue with CARE’s partner organizations.
  • Skills in team work, facilitation and
    training.
