Job Summary: The Music Controller will plan and coordinate a Music strategy for both KFM Radio and Dembe FM Radio Stations so as to achieve high audience ratings to maximize profit from advertising revenue. The job entails detailed up to-date understanding of music and the music industry through research so as to attract listener ship it should focus on the target audience, which forms the base for advertisers with the same target market for their brands.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifies and builds the sound of the stations
- Initiates finding new music both local and international.
- Builds a music database for both stations and ensures that they are continuously updated
- Differentiates and categorises music for both radio stations
- Researches and updates information on music for presentation
- Edits music for all shows and works with the Programmes Controllers in ‘editing the logs on KFM and Dembe FM
- Prepares music hooks for weekly music research and auditorium music research
- Supervises team. Music Scheduler and field Research Assistants
- Gets the data gathered from research and enters it into EIP& R and processes it
- Shares research with Head of Programing and Programs controllers in order to advise decisions.
- Carry out trade visits and monitors Other radio stations to determine music trends
- Interviews local artist in order to promote local music and build a data base.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- The Music Controller should possess a Bachelor of degree from an accredited University
- Five (5) years working experience with in the broadcasting industry
- Very strong listening skills
- A strong attention to detail
- Very strong appreciation for music and an ear for it.
- Principled with high standards of integrity
- Strong understanding of Media market dynamics
- Strong communications skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Think on feel with a lot of initiative and innovation
- Ability to follow through and close issues
- High emotional intelligence
- Conflict management
