development organisation with membership to SOS Children’s Villages
International, a worldwide child care organisation that provides children who
have lost parental care, and those at risk of losing parental care with a
permanent home and educational opportunities. Established 60 years ago, SOS
Children’s Villages International currently runs Children’s Villages and other
projects in 135 countries around the world. We run two major programmes i.e
Family Based Care based at SOS Children’s Villages and Family Strengthening
Programmes supporting families in local communities. SOS has been working in
Uganda since 1991, and runs Children’s Villages and other projects at Kakiri,
Entebbe (Abaita Ababiri), Gulu and in Fort Portal – Kabarole district. SOS Uganda
subscribes to a child protection policy.

Job Summary: The National
Office Accountant will be responsible for the overall financial administration
of the National Office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The applicant should know how to prepare
and provide various financial reports of the National Association - Knowledge of Payroll preparation and
ensuring that all statutory deductions are paid in time. - Knowledge of Booking financial data into
Navision software programme. - Payables and debtors management
- Management of Insurance issues of the
Nation - Manage the printing of financial documents
and control their distribution. - Cash flow management
- Ensure that all National Office
procurements are in compliance with the organizational and donor
procurement policies. - Proficient in Asset management of the
National Association - Support the Head of Finance in preparing
the end of year financial statement in preparation of the external audit. - Participate in field verification
exercises and Internal audits. - Give financial direction to staff.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The Accountant should possess a Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting. - Possession of professional qualification
in ACCA, CIPA will be an added advantage - A minimum of three years accounting
experience in a busy organisation/setting. - Additional experience in NGO community
funded programmes including managing donor grants will be of great
advantage. - Good working knowledge and sound
understanding of current financial management and funding arrangements is
desirable. - Experience and knowledge in the use of
Navison accounting software. - Ability to work well in a team comprised
of people with diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds. - S/he should have strong leadership and
good communication skills.
