About Us:
Government of Uganda with
support from the World Bank is implementing the Electricity Sector Development
Project (ESDP) The Project will facilitate improvements in power supply to the
South Western region of Uganda by construction of the Kawanda – Masaka 220kV
transmission line together with construction/upgrading of some selected
sub-stations which will be implemented by the Uganda Electricity Transmission
Company Limited (UETCL). The Project will also support several Social
Development Activities being initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Development (MEMD). These will include street lighting and lighting of market
places in Masaka Municipality, electrification of peri-urban areas along the
transmission line corridor etc. and will be implemented by the MEMO:

interalia: finance :la) a Review of Sector Reforms; (b) the establishment of a
Power Sector Information Center (PSIC); (c) support to the MEMD and the Energy

Job Summary: The Electrical
Engineer will be responsible for the effectively and efficiently implement the
project together with the project team on the Ministry Component.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review
the project designs including drawings, specifications and work schedules - Monitor
the progress of work and ensure satisfactory standards, quality assurance,
control of workmanship and timely completion of projects. - Review
all the reports submitted by the Consultant. - Attend
site meetings for the purposes of reviewing progress and giving directions - Prepare
progress reports on the implementation of the project as may be required
from time to time - Proactively
participate in procurement of goods, works and project consultancy
services required for implementing the - Support
EPD in managing contracts for suppliers, consultants and contractors under
the project - Perform
any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Candidates
should possess Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from
recognized University/institution. - A post
graduate training in electrical power development related fields. - Ten
or more years experience working directly in a management or supervisory
capacity in the construction of transmission or distribution lines.
