About CHAU:
Link Up is a global programme
designed to integrate Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights interventions of
young people affected by HIV aged between 10 and 24yrs. This global program
will be implemented in Bangladesh. Burma, Burundi, Ethiopia and Uganda The Link
Up Project is implemented through a partnership consortium comprising of The
International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA). Marie Stops International (MSI),
Population Council (PC). Stop AIDS NOW(SAN!) the Global Youth Coalition on
HIV/AIDS( GYCA) and The Athena Network(ATHENA). In Uganda, Link Up Project is
implemented by Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU) a local nongovernmental
Organization an affiliate with The International HIV/AIDS Alliance, in close
collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This project will be implemented in
11 districts, namely: Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Kayunga, Nakasangola, Luwero,
Mayuge, Iganga, Bugiri, Namutumba, and Kamuli. 
Job Summary: The Community
Mobilisation Officer will ensure effective mobilisation and engagement with the
various communities on issues of health and human rights.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Take leadership on vision, strategic
    direction and leadership on community engagement activities of CHAU.
  • Steer the initiation development and
    maintain strategic community alliances and partnerships necessary to
    achieve community engagement activities
  • Work closely with various partners to
    mobilise the communities in order to increase uptake of integrated SRHR
    services.
  • Carry out appropriate training for young
    people to build their competence on SRHR.
  • Conduct activities amongst target
    audiences of CHAU projects to increase awareness on SRHR rights and
    responsibilities.
  • Conduct sensitizations to various
    community leaders and groups in order to foster positive attitudes on SRHR
    issues.  
  • Conduct radio talks to mobilise
    communities at project sites in order to increase uptake of services
    related to CHAU projects.
  •  Identify community issues/challenges and
    develop strategies to address these issues/challenges for effective
    implementation of the CHAU portfolio
  • Take charge of the distribution of
    community mobilisation materials to various partners and partners
  • Carry out mapping exercises relating to
    SRI-IA and HIV service delivery in order to document a referral system and
    network and ensure effective referral systems at community level.
  • Work with CHAU IPs and Other stakeholders
    to ensure coordinated community mobilization efforts.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings
    with the Advocacy & BCC Officer to ensure an integrated and
    comprehensive approach to community mobilization, advocacy, and networking.
  • Prepare regular reports and other briefs
    on public relations activities.
  • Participate in the development of
    community mobilization strategies, work plans and budgets.
  • Other duties as may be assigned
    periodically.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    candidate should possess a Masters Degree in Community Development, Social
    Work and Social Administration or Social Sciences.
  • Competency
    and skills in community engagement. SRHR and gender.
  • Training
    in Advocacy
  • Three
    or more 3 years in a similar position
  • Public
    relations skills
  • Advocacy
