Job Title:  Finance
Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
About Us:
Our client, one of the leading global dealerships in
Uganda, wishes to appoint a dynamic and competent Finance Manager.
Job Summary:  The Finance Manager will be
responsible for the overall finance and commercial strategy, policies, and
framework implementation for the organisation in accordance with its direction
as set out by the Board of Directors. The Finance Manager will be responsible
for the day to day management of finance operations and controls including;
cash and liquidity management, corporate financial management and financial
risk management, while maintaining an optimum taxation position. He/she will
also have contact with senior managers and key external stakeholders including
financial institutions, key investors, Uganda Revenue Authority, whirls
requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Offer strategic and
    operational direction to the finance department;
  • Maintain contact with the
    Directorate, Group finance department, Internal Audit and other internal
    stakeholders;
  • Provide advisory services
    on commercial aspects of marketing and sales strategies;
  • Supervise implementation
    of commercial and accounting systems as appropriate;
  • Ensure accurate and
    timely accounting of treasury transactions including review of
    reconciliations of cash and near cash items;
  • Forecast and manage the
    company’s cash flows and ensure adequate liquidity to meet obligations as
    they fall due;
  • Source and manage new
    funds, including but not exclusively, bridge funding and represent the
    organisation in discussions and up to final agreements;
  • Ensure that the
    organisation complies with financing contractual terms and covenants with
    all its stakeholders;
  • Manage tax planning and
    compliance review exercises
  • Coordinate and implement
    financial risk management strategies covering; interest rate, foreign
    exchange and liquidity risks to ensure safeguard of company assets;
  • Support the annual and
    long term planning processes through input and advice to management on
    cash flow forecasts and macro-economic variables.
  • Enforce policies and
    procedures related to corporate finance processes;
  • Enforce risk management
    and insurance strategies
  • Manage relationships with
    financial institutions and other key stakeholders such as auditors,
    Company Secretary, principals, local authorities, Diplomatic
    authorities/NG0s, suppliers and suppliers;
  • Supervise staff in the
    commercial/finance section and ensure that their skills and conduct are in
    line with the organisation’s values.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The candidate should hold
    a first degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Statistics or any other
    associated discipline from a recognized university and must be Certified
    Public Accountant (CPA). A Post graduate qualification in a related area
    is an advantage. He/she must have active membership in a recognized
    Accountancy body such as ACCA, ICPAU, among others.
  • Demonstrable track record
    of performance of at least nine years, with three years at supervisory
    level in the finance area;
  • Excellent technical
    financial and accounting knowledge and experience;
  • Experience in setting up,
    implementing and monitoring strong financial control systems;
  • Familiarity with bank
    interface systems and Treasury Management Systems required;
  • Good understanding of the
    Ugandan tax legislation is a requirement;
  • Experience in marketing
    and sales appraisal for a multinational organisation;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Able to thrive in a fast-pace
    setting environment;
  • Strong demonstrable
    interpersonal, supervisory and customer service, verbal and written communication
    skills required;
  • Ability to multi-task,
    work under pressure and meet deadlines required with extreme integrity;
