Job Summary: The Food Security & Community Resilience
Specialist will offer technical guidance and expert advice to WV Uganda
programs/ projects in designing, planning, monitoring and evaluation of food
security and community resilience/ livelihoods interventions.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Support Strategic
Planning:
Support WVU National Office in developing
sustainable livelihoods security strategies and community resilience/
livelihoods security technical approaches (strategies).
2. Support Programs
Development and Implementation:
  • Provide technical advice on best practices and approaches to
    sustainable food security and community resilience/ livelihoods
    programming.
  • Provide technical backstopping on food security and community
    resilience/livelihoods intervention/program implementation and document
    lessons learned.
3. Monitoring and
Evaluation:
  • Support WVU to develop and use innovative approaches to monitor
    and evaluate the performance, effectiveness/impacts of livelihoods
    interventions.
  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of the food security and
    community resilience / livelihoods security strategies.
4. Support Fundraising and
Networking:
  • Support fund raising activities through networking, proposal and
    concepts development (as necessary) for food security and community
    resilience /livelihoods interventions.
  • Build and strengthen effective relations and partnerships between
    WVU and actors on food security and community resilience/ livelihoods for
    networking and cross learning to enrich WV livelihoods programs/
    interventions.
5. Emergency Food Security
and Livelihood Response:
Support food Security and
livelihood response programming in emergency contexts
6. Capacity Building:
  • Identify the needs and organize trainings to develop the capacity
    of WVU staff and partners to increase their competence in sustainable food
    security and community resilience/ livelihood approaches
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of food
    security and community resilience/ livelihoods program/project staff.
  • Assist in developing terms of reference (TOR) as well as provide
    technical supervision to consultants for WVU for food security and
    community resilience/livelihoods studies/ evaluations.
7. Representation:
  • Represent WVU in food security and community resilience
    /livelihoods forums- meetings, workshops, conferences and contribute to
    technical interactions and discussions on the same.
 Qualifications, Skills
and Experience:
  • The
    applicant should hold a
    Bachelor degree in
    Agriculture or related fields and post graduate qualification in rural
    economy (agricultural economics, agribusiness, or other development
    oriented fields)
  • At least five year hands-on experience in
    designing and managing sustainable food security/livelihood interventions
  • Project proposal writing and documentation
    skills
  • Good communication and networking skills
  • Training facilitation and coordination
    skills
  • Research, monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Be a mature Christian, able to stand above
    denominational diversities
