Summary: The Technical manager role in Eskom (U)
limited is part of the engineering and project management team that is
responsible for all technical disciplines patterning to running the two power
stations in Jinja.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Management
of Eskom technical support in the technical disciplines, on an as needed
basis, to ongoing operations and projects in both the Production and
maintenance departments - Management
of Eskom technical assurance via his/her team’s participation in the
review of engineering deliverables, peer reviews/assists, and fundamental
hydro power generation processes such as excellent plant asset care
management. - Ensuring
that Eskom work in the technical disciplines meets applicable internal and
external requirements, is of requisite thoroughness, and is accurate. - Ensuring
that associated fundamental processes (e.g., Integrity of plant Equipment)
are embedded and effective in Production Units and, as required. - Requires
direct, personal problem solving in one of the technical disciplines. - Facilitate
technical requirements via the development, implementation, and
performance monitoring of plant asset performance and apply best industry
standards accordingly. - Assurance
that technical skills development in all disciplines needed to advance
employees capabilities for better performance. - Interact
and network with others in the engineering and projects group to ensure
successful delivery of business objectives.
Qualifications, Skills
& Experience:

- The
applicant should possess a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical,
or Process Engineering - At
least ten (10) years of power generation or heavy process industry
experience - Demonstrated
knowledge of fundamental operational processes such as Management of
Change, Root Cause Analysis, and Equipment Maintenance Strategies. - Comprehensive
power generation and heavy process industry experience including design,
fabrication, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - At
least eight years minimum experience in engineering and/or operations
roles within the power generation or heavy process industry. - Engineering
and/or operations supervisory/management experience in power generation or
heavy process industry production operations environment - Extensive
understanding of technical systems design, construction, and operation
practices in power generation or heavy process industry. - Familiarity
with current regulatory requirements in energy industry and applicable
industry standards. - Demonstrated
technical & advisory skills, including the ability to interface with
other relevant disciplines (e.g., operations) and influence the work and
outcomes of individuals that do not directly report to this position. - Very
strong technical skills in either Process, electrical or Mechanical
Engineering
