Job Summary: The Purchasing
Officer will receive periodic and ad-hoc requirements and requests from users
for non-network goods, consumables and services and ensure that these
requirements are filled efficiently, economically, to users’ satisfaction and
in compliance with the company’s purchasing procedures. He/ she will also
ensure that appropriate contracts for supply are in place for non-network goods
and services.

- Receive and verify requests from users for
non-network goods, consumables and services - Confirm that requests comply with periodically
approved operating budgets for all departments - Provide user defined final specification to
internal Contracts and Supplier Relations section and assist in sourcing
potential suppliers - Place orders against contracts in time to meet
user - Monitor and inform users on pending orders and
service delivery
- Perform any other duties as assigned by
supervisor

- The applicant should hold a good technical
university degree and/ or international CIPS qualification - At least three years’ experience in fulfilling
non-technical purchasing requests in a large complex organisation,
operating to best practice international standards. - Possess good communication skills and
experience of interacting with senior engineering, finance and supporting
functions - Excellent practical capability in sourcing and
evaluating consumables and services of appropriate quality and value to
meet user requirements - Proven ability to comprehend, sensitively
evaluate and make arrangements for non repetitive requests for travel
arrangements, workshops and conferences, training and other employee
related services - Good knowledge and experience of utilizing
modern enterprise wide information systems to support the function. - Proven impeccable integrity in business
dealings and adherence to organisational policies, code of business
conduct, standards, and health and safety policies.
