Key
Duties and Responsibilities:

- With
direction from the Executive Director, develop and execute UNABCEC’s
communications strategy, including brand, digital and media relations. - Partner
closely with UNABCEC fundraising team to develop digital, written and
collateral materials that support fundraising - Support
UNABCEC strategic efforts by lending expertise on relevant projects and communications
teams, as needed. - Manage
day-to-day UNABCEC. PR and media relations activities: - Write
all press releases, web stories, OpEd/LtE and blog(s) with assistance from
campaigns managers and/or international communications team; - Build
relationships with key reporters and pitch/place stories - Ensure
proper branding and messaging, as well as optimal placements - Maintain
media lists/contacts database - Monitor
daily marketplace for topical story ideas, potential for marketing
UNABCEC, etc.; - Fully
brief UNABCEC spokespeople for all media interviews, as well as provide regular
media training; - Serve
as a spokesperson, when needed for UNABCEC. - Contribute
content to UNABCEC’s social media and collaborate closely with the
Executive Director to ensure that content on UNABCEC’s Facebook, Twitter,
and YouTube account is constant, on-brand, current and engaging - Support
UNABCEC communications plans and assets development: - Prepare
monthly and quarterly performance reports for internal tracking, as well
as quarterly reports for the Board. - Collaborate
and communicate closely with International media officers on global
campaigns including identifying opportunities and developing stories with
local relevance in the Ugandan market. - Perform
any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
Skills & Experience:
- The
applicant should possess a Bachelor’s Degree - Five
or more years’ proven-experience with media, particularly building
relationships and pitching/ placing stories on a local, national and
international level. - At
least two years’ experience in organizing campaigns and events. - Experience
managing and motivating staff. - Committed
to Construction and real estate issues. - Must
have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. - Flexible
and stress-proof; able to be “on call” and travel as needed. - Able
to work independently while comfortable as part of both a
national/regional multi-disciplinary team and a global PR/media team. - A
team player with good interpersonal, communication and creative thinking
skills.
