Uganda
Development Bank Ltd (UDBL) is the country’s only Development Finance
Institution (DFI) established in 1972. The Bank has recently re-positioned
itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the theme of its
National Development Plan. UDBL is currently seeking an individual to fill the
position of Senior Business Development Officer — Projects.
Job Summary: The Senior Business Development Officer will be responsible for
attracting and developing investment opportunities, undertaking appraisal
analysis, advising management on investment opportunities, coordinating the
implementation of investment decisions, portfolio management and collections to
achieve the Bank’s development mandate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Source
for new projects and be part of the business driving team
·        
Design
new products and innovations which must be viable, practical, relevant and
address the needs of clients;
·        
Embark
on investment analysis and appraisals of proposals submitted to the Bank and
make recommendations to management and the Board for consideration
·        
Carry
out analysis of projects under implementation and the existing portfolio to
identify and manage investment risks.
·        
Coordinate
the implementation of investments, monitor the performance of projects, and
collections
·        
Conduct
continuous research and provide recommendations on significant developments,
emerging opportunities and challenges faced by the bank.
·        
Manage
client communications, relations and expectations
·        
Perform
any other tasks assigned by Management.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·        
The
Senior Business Development Officer should possess a bachelor’s degree in a
business related field, Engineering or any other numerate degree from a
recognized university and a relevant post graduate degree such as an MBA or
Masters in Finance.
·        
At least
five (5) years similar or relevant experience in a large financial institution
or development bank, preferably engaged in long term funding or project
financing; of which three (3) should be at middle management level.
·        
Experience
in agriculture/group financing is an added advantage.
·        
He/ she
shall have demonstrated strong analytical and financial analysis skills and
experience in using financial models;
·        
Excellent
track record and experience in successful investment, appraisal, analysis and
implementation; and ability to operate effectively across organizational
boundaries and work as team to meet strict timelines.

highly self-motivated

mature in thinking and clearly articulate ideas

Highly

Possess
high business acumen with proven successful projects;
