Job Summary: The
Commercial Manager will steer and manage the Uganda Commercial team to provide
timely commercial advice, negotiation support and delivery of robust commercial
solutions/arrangements to achieve the Lake Albert Basin development objectives
through the commercialisation of proven hydrocarbon resources

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Commercial Team in providing
sound and timely strategic, commercial and economic guidance and advice in
support of the Uganda Business Unit short, medium and long term
objectives. - As a key member of the Uganda Leadership
Team, support decision making and day-to-day management of the Uganda
business - Management of all commercial activities
relating to operated and non-operated interests in Uganda: - deliver the Lake Albert basin wide
commercial development plan and support BU delivery of FID; - provide commercial oversight in all
Uganda BU activities - support and guide Commercial
Development, Non Operated Business, JV Ops/Regulatory Affairs reps to
achieve key objectives in the respective areas of responsibility - oversee economic and planning input as
required by the BU - mentoring of commercial team members
- Support ULT nationalization and
succession plan in Commercial Section through coaching and mentoring as
appropriate. - Support GM and Leadership team in the
delivery of BU objectives - Support Regional Commercial – EA Manager
in the delivery of East Africa commercial objectives (inc regional
pipeline)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should possess technical,
commercial/legal or finance/business degree, preferably at Masters level. - The applicant who possesses an MBA will
have an added advantage. - Extensive and proven experience in
upstream oil industry; - Good track record in delivery of high
value upstream commercial transactions and closure of E&P contractual
arrangements; - Prior working experience in all phases
of the E&P lifecycle a prerequisite; - Lead or key supporting role in delivery
of commercialisation options for single or multiple high value oil and gas
developments; - Broad understanding and knowledge of
upstream economic value drivers and analysis; - Oversight and management of JV/regulatory/commercial
operations and commercial assurance; - Good understanding of financing and
project financing of upstream, midstream and downstream projects; - Experience in Sub Saharan Africa
desirable but not essential, equivalent experience essential; - Strong leadership and motivational
skills - Excellent communication skills, both
internal and external - Cultural awareness and ability to
influence - Entrepreneurial attitude
- Flexible and swift to respond
