About NUDIPU: 
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) in
partnership with her development partners – University College London, UK- has
secured funds to implement Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) impact
evaluation research project in Uganda. The project aims at designing a model of
impact evaluation for Community Based Rehabilitation for Disabled People (CBR)
and an evaluation toolkit for use in diverse contexts globally.
Key Duties
& Responsibilities:
  • Lend a hand to the Research coordinator in
    communicating with the UCL research team (Mary Wickenden and colleagues)
    in all matters by email or Skype in a timely fashion (weekly at minimum,
    and immediately (within the day) for any exceptional circumstances that
    may arise.
  • Assist in communication with the Kayunga
    District CBR programme officers and staff about the field work (e.g.
    details about timings, information for and recruitment of participants,
    transport, venues, networking with local stakeholders etc.)
  • Collect data (both existing demographic
    and monitoring to be collected from the CBR programme manager) and new
    participatory data collected from activities as above
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    the Research Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The Research Assistant should hold a Graduate
    degree or diploma in relevant subject: e.g. community development, social
    work, sociology, anthropology, disability or development studies, health
    or education professions
  • Some introductory training in research
    methods either academic or on job
  • Hands-on experience in conducting academic
    research project in a relevant subject
  • Work experience in the disability field or
    community development, either in research, advocacy or service provision
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. Competency
    in the use of PC/word, online resources, email and Skype.
  • Excellent report writing skills
