commercial bank.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The
Risk Manager will be responsible for coordinating the Bank’s Risk Management
Programme and will be a member of the Executive Committee. These will include:-
  • Rigorously
    monitoring the risk exposures and determining the corresponding capital
    needs (Capital Planning) on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitoring
    and assessing decisions to accept particular risks, risk mitigation
    measures and ensuring that decisions are in line with the board- approved
    risk taking strategies and policies.
  • Reporting
    and communicating the key risks identified to the Board Risk Management
    Committee and to Senior Management.
  • Developing
    as well as recommending reviews of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Mentoring,
    training and creating staff awareness of departmental and bank wide risk
    management practices and embedding a culture of strict adherence to good
    governance practices.
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    suitably qualified applicants should possess a good bachelor’s degree from
    a recognized university. A masters degree and other relevant professional
    qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Prior
    risk advisory, legal, audit or corporate governance experience at a senior
    level will be an added advantage.
  • An
    authoritative understanding of the current and emerging regulatory trends
    both locally and internationally.
  • The candidate
    must have a good understanding of banking operations and industry-wide
    risks.
  • At least
    four years’ managerial experience working in the risk or compliance
    department of a bank will be an added advantage.
