Job Summary: The
Nutrition Coordinator will provide guidance and leadership in Nutrition
surveillance, Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and Infant and
Young Child Feeding Practise (IYCF). He/she will be responsible for
representing ACF in technical working group meeting, stakeholders meeting,
Nutrition Forum meeting and refugee contingency planning meeting coordinated by
OPM. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring agreed up on objectives are
achieved inline the agreed framework/proposals & protocols and ACF Uganda
strategic plan for 2014-2015. In coordination with the Technical Coordinator
and CD, He/she will spearhead donor and MOH meeting proactively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Significantly contribute to the broad
understanding of the underline cause of malnutrition through contextual
analysis, including field reports, stakeholder’s consultation and
collection of secondary data. - Take lead and participate in nutrition
surveillance activities and provide technical support, supervision and
provision of strategic direction on methodology and analysis - Provide the coordination team with
information related to health and nutrition events in the Country. - Act as the ACF primary focal person for
displacement, refugees, and humanitarian matters in the Country. - Explore opportunities and ensure that
nutrition elements are integrated into the ongoing interventions and
provide strategic leadership on mainstreaming nutrition into
future/current programmes - Attend all relevant health and nutrition
coordination meetings and participate in the drafting of national and
District nutrition strategies by disseminating ACF’s nutrition strategic
positioning to donors and other stakeholders - Participate to the strategic planning
and contribution to the revision of the Country Strategy for the nutrition
sector - Identify opportunities for deeper
assessment, applied research, or publication related to past/
ongoing/proposed programs that aid policy advocacy in the nutrition
sector. - Proactively engage UNICEF (potential
donor) and Ministry of Health in prevailing health and nutrition issues
and present ACF position pertaining to the situation (South Sudanese
refugee influx)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Nutrition Coordinator should hold a
first Degree in Medicine, Human Nutrition, Public Health or related
discipline - At least five years’ progressive work
experience. - Comprehensive knowledge and understanding
of IMAM and IYCF in the Uganda context - Strong understanding of the UNICEF
conceptual framework, of under-nutrition (UNICEF, 1991) - Excellent interpersonal skills and the
ability to support, motivate, and train field staff - Superior qualitative and quantitative
analytical skills. - Past exposure and experience in
developing concept papers, logical frameworks, donor proposals and
reports. - Possess the ability to work
independently, set realistic goals, and work within agreed timelines.
Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, internet, and email.
