About Us:
The Parliamentary Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
To appoint, promote and exercise disciplinary control over persons holding public office in Parliament;
  • To review the terms and conditions of service, standing orders, training and qualifications  of persons holding office in Parliament;
  • To provide a Parliamentary reporting service;
  • To provide such other staff and facilities as are required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament;
  • To cause to be prepared in each financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next financial year; and
  • To make recommendations to Parliament, or with the approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and privileges available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Job Summary: The Front Desk Assistant will provide front desk services to Parliament.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Receive, guide and direct visitors within the Parliamentary precincts
  • Receive and deliver all incoming mail, ministerial policy statements and official documents for MPs and staff
  • Respond to telephone enquiries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Keep safe custody of documents and property relating to the front desk.
  • Deliver internal mail and personal documents services
  • Receive and direct visitors
  • Maintain a front desk visitor’s register
  • Actively participate in organizing parliamentary ceremonies and events
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Leisure and Hospitality Management, or Public Relations, or Office Management, or Hotel Management/ Institutional Catering, or Communication Studies or from a recognized Institution
  • Excellent customer care, communication and public relations skills
  • Highly articulate, cordial, hospitable and pleasant personality
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Good people management and interpersonal skills
