About UTCC:

The Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control Council (UTCC) was established by an
Act of Parliament in 1992 (Ch 211) as a semi-autonomous body charged with the
responsibility of controlling Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis in Uganda with a view
of enhancing human health and agricultural production so as to contribute
towards the improvement of the standard of living of Ugandans.

 

Job Summary: The Internal
Auditor will offer a full range of financial compliance and operational audits
in institutional and administrative services, investigations of internal
control structures, accountability and the prudent, efficient and effective use
of resources in COCTU.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate and test the reliability,
    integrity of financial operating information and adequacy of internal
    controls of audit.
  • Deter or detect opportunities for fraud,
    waste, abuse of resources.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with
    policies, plans, procedures, acceptable to Government of Uganda accounting
    principles, laws/acts and regulations and contract provisions.
  • Manage the audit function activities to
    ensure the work is accurate, sufficient and in compliance with applicable
    standards and policies.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with
    external auditors.
  • Shall demonstrate high standards of
    conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgment, independence and
    direction.
  • Shall carry out such other functions
    within the objectives and functions of the Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control
    Council Statute No. 16 of 8th October, 1992.

 

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 

  • The candidate shall possess a Bachelors of
    Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting option) Degree from a
    recognized University / Institution or full professional qualifications
    like ACCA or CPA.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in
    Business Administration (MBA) – in Finance Business Administration or
    related discipline is an added advantage.
  • The applicants should possess five (5) or
    more years’ financial services experience and auditing environment in a
    multi-stakeholder environment of a reputable Organization or public
    service/ Institution or public service
  • Excellent analytical skills, sound
    judgment and collaborative working style with the capacity to work in
    partnership with a range of different stakeholders.
