Job Summary: The National
Professional Office/TUB will offer technical support and guidance for the
formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Tuberculosis Policy to help
improve access to medicines and assure their safety, quality and rational use.
In line with Health Sector Strategic Plan and Global Standards, develop and
manage the organization’s programme of technical co-operation at country level
and coordinate the Organization’s assistance to Tuberculosis Programme. The jobholder will serve as WHO focal point
for TUB activities in the country; Under the supervision of the WR and the technical
guidance of DPC/AFRO and TUB/AFRO, the incumbent, in close collaboration with
the national TUB focal person of the country, will support development,
planning, implementation, evaluation, and co-ordination of TB activities.

planning, implementation, evaluation, and co-ordination of TB activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer technical support by assisting the
national authorities in programme activities: planning, implementing,
monitoring and evaluation. Prepare consultations with partners and
stakeholders. - Actively facilitate the creation of
functional and collaborative networks with programmes such
HIV/AIDS/STI/Leprosy/EDP/IDS and other relevant Ministry of Health
programmes. - Provide support to the NTLP in developing
plans for social and resource mobilization. - Bridge the gap between the
Research/Research Institutions and the programme to ensure that relevant
research is carried out to improve the TB control. - Technically support the development and
adaptation of training materials and guidelines for TB control. - Actively participate in the quarterly
organization of national and district training activities and follow-up
assessment of trainees and facilitators to ensure quality of training and
performance. - Participate in programme monitoring and
evaluation to ensure quality of data collection and use of information in
re-planning. - Participate in quarterly organization of
National TB Control Task Force/Committee meetings to provide opportunities
for establishing consensus on technical and policy issues, and to sustain
partner level interest in TB control. - Compile and send monthly reports to the
WHO country Office and Ministry of Health with a copy to WHO Regional
Office. - Perform any other duties assigned by WR.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Medical Degree
from a recognized University. Possession of a Master’s degree in Public
Health. - A minimum of seven years’ experience in
planning, implementing, monitoring and supervising of TB Control
activities at national or regional/provincial or district level. - Past experience in developing and
implementing TB Control Policies would be an added advantage. - Excellent knowledge of TB Control in
Uganda. - Proficiency in computer skills, data
analysis and results presentation and or appropriate training/research
skills
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English / French / Portuguese
and fluency in the working language of the country.
