Job Summary: The Business Development Officer will be working within the Programme Development Division alongside sectoral specialists and Integrated Programmes staff to ensure the design and development of grant applications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
1. Resource Acquisition Strategy:
  • Assist the Programme Development Division in the acquisition of new grants and monitoring opportunities by researching on donor websites, newspaper postings and through Support Offices.
  • Take lead in proposal development in selected areas of World Vision Uganda’s work during the designing of new projects and redesigning of existing ones.
  • Work with World Vision Uganda technical specialists and Support Offices to develop high quality, innovative proposals
  • Act as overall coordinator between Support Offices, partners, Quality Assurance and Integrated Programmes during the design process until project start up.
  • Intuitively review and improve concepts to proposal level
  • Initiate new proposals based on relevant calls for proposals
2. Donor Relations:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with principal donors and understand donor’s emerging priorities
  • Support the Division in identifying strategic partners to strengthen World Vision Uganda’s position in bidding for new awards
  • Identify other strategic partnerships in Uganda and conduct due diligence exercises for partners involved in new proposal development. Ensure that partner relations are maintained and improved.
3. Networking, external coordination and relationships:
  • Build and strengthen networks and partnerships with strategically identified stakeholders to improve learning, influence competitiveness and visibility to realize sustainable impact on Child Well-being Aspirations
  • Strengthen and expend networking with   government, donor, and NGO and UN bodies to coordinate WV’s work with theirs.
4. Resource Mobilization:
  • Offers technical support in proposal development according to donor specifications and WVU strategic sector focus.
  • Support the processes of resource mobilization to execute WVU Strategy
  • Provide management support in proposal writing, forming consortia and follow up with donors.
  • Identify, market opportunities and monitor donor trends and for growing grant funding from governments and multilaterals in collaboration with the Regional Resources Acquisition and management Team Leader and the support offices
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The applicant should preferably hold a good University Degree in Management, Development, or related field. Possession of a Master’s Degree in a development field highly desirable;
  • At least four years’ experience, preferably within World Vision
  • Past exposure and experience in project design and writing proposals to a high standard.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of major donors’ perspectives, requirements and standards.
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
