Job Summary: The
Barclays Bank Retention Officers will proactively
increase and retain the number of key accounts under management and building
relationships with customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Customer
Retention and Relationship Management: 70%

- On an annual basis, agree targets with the Head of
Products. - Actively monitor personal performance on monthly
basis and provide feedback to the Head of products on progress made. - Manage customer attrition on both asset and liabilities
side - Manage customer retention of top performing asset and
liabilities customers - Oversee customer on-boarding process
- Boost customer recruitment on alternate channels like
Internet & Mobile banking, Debit and Credit Cards - Ensure activation of inactive accounts.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities for the sales
team. - Provide necessary information and statistics
pertaining to retention activities. - Build and grow a team approach by actively building
strong working relationships with the personal bankers, sales team, Branch
managers, Regional Manager/s, Head of SME, Head of Affluent, Heads and
Relationship Managers in retail & Commercial and branches in the
country. - Proactively sell the retention value proposition to
new and existing customers. Customer types include Retail, Corporate, SME,
Government agencies, NGO’s. The customer interface is normally with the
Finance Director or Head of Human Resources. - Ensure that all calls are conducted as required and
submit call reports after each event detailing the outcome of the calls. - Actively coordinate the sales activity by ensuring
new loans and top up leads are passed to the sales team for sales activities.

- Ensure that queries received from the customer are
dealt with efficiently and that all queries and complaints are logged and
to the Retail Service Head. - Maintain a visible and active presence in the local
market to establish new relationships and to support existing
relationships.
3. Governance

- Collect all documentation from the customers. Ensure
that documentation is complete prior to submission to operations for
processing. - When required, interface with customers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Barclays Bank Retention Officers must have
completed A level or equivalent with good pass in Mathematics and English.
Possession of a
Bachelor’s Degree in sales or marketing is preferred - A minimum of two or more years’ experience in a sales
or key account relationship management role at a business level - Some experience in banking is preferred
- Detailed
working knowledge of all Barclays product that are on offer including
pricing Knowledge. - Skills
in relationship building and networking - Good
problem solving and analytical skills - Time
management - Excellent
presentation skills - Skills
and ability to influence and negotiation - Excellent
communication skills (verbal and written) - Computer
literacy skills i.e. Microsoft Office - Detailed
working knowledge of policies and procedures - Basic
legal and credit skills. - Thorough
understanding of the financial services industry. - Proven
sales track record in financial services industry. - Thorough
understanding of Barclays Bank’s segmentation framework and value
propositions. - Good
understanding how large corporates and government departments operate is
preffred - Good
network in the business community
