largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently, WFP
focuses on three priority areas namely: Emergency Humanitarian Action (EHA);
Food & Nutrition Security (FNS); and Agriculture & Market Support
(AMS). WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Job Summary: The UN WFP Senior
Programme Assistant will support the Programme Officer Food & Nutrition
Security in managing Food and Nutrition programming
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Regularly
    review and submit call forwards for commodities from the Sub Office;
  • Prepare
    Food Release notes for the targeted project sites in a timely manner;
  • Responsible
    for financial record management of the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund
    2 (WFP) project;
  • Expeditiously
    follow-up with cooperating partner finance staff on the timely submission
    of financial records, management of the FLA database, filing of records,
    tracking of reported expenditures per FLA budget lines, internal tracking
    of financial invoices;
  • Responsible
    for narrative record management of the NUSAF2 (WFP) project which includes
    the follow-up with implementing partner field programme staff on the
    timely submission of project output records and narrative reports, filing
    of record;
  • Work
    closely with the Assessment, Monitoring &Evaluation-AM E/Programme
    Management Information System- PROMIS on the Management of the outputs
    database, internal tracking of output records versus Sub Office monitoring
    records;
  • Process
    Other Direct Operational Cost (ODOC) payments to cooperating partners on
    the basis of reconciled financial and output records on a timely basis and
    internal tracking of payment status;
  • Prepare
    payments to cooperating partners who are involved in direct cash delivery
    based on the reconciled list of beneficiaries;
  • Keep
    track of work phases and periods of food deliveries/cash transfers of sub
    projects; ;
  • Actively
    participate in the quarterly oversight missions of cooperating partners;
  • Perform
    any other related duties as required or assigned by Programme Officer Food
    & Nutrition Security.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Senior Programme
    Assistant vacancy should hold a University degree in either of the following
    disciplines: Economics Agriculture,
    International Affairs, Business Administration, social sciences, development
    studies or a field relevant to international development assistance;
  • A
    minimum of five years of relevant work experience gained from a reputable
    institution;
  • The
    applicants should have sound judgment;
  • Possess
    the ability to extract, interpret, analyze, format data and resolve,
    operational problems; work with minimum supervision;
  • The
    job holder should have the ability to coach, mentor, supervise and train support staff and work
    effectively with people of different national and cultural.
  • Computer
    literacy i.e. working knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Office
    applications;
  • Excellent
    command of both written & oral English is essential;
