Job Summary: The Grants
Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership for Grant acquisition
and management, strengthen systems and tools in the areas of NO grants
compliance and administration. He /she will also build NO execution capability
for strategic grants and contracts, focusing on compliance with organizational
and donor policies, procedures and regulations, as well as risk mitigation. The
incumbent will manage the grants implementation and strategic support for
monitoring, capacity building of local partners’ Grant Acquisition and Management
efforts.
Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership for Grant acquisition

incumbent will manage the grants implementation and strategic support for

efforts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Steer
the National Office’s Grant Acquisition and Management efforts to increase
grant portfolio. - Actively
coordinate the drafting and presentation of proposals, operational and
financial reports in collaboration with the relevant Program and Finance
staff; ensure best practice is communicated, followed and shared in all
aspects of grants management. - Responsible
for the coordination with all relevant departments to ensure the
integration of Local partners’ participation and accountability in
effective and efficient grant project management; ensures the LPs GAM
capacity developed through providing technical and capacity building
support. - Technically
support management in maintaining efficient donor relationships, provides
appropriate and timely feedback to ensure management are fully informed of
grant project progress and success with all new and existing donors. - Responsible
for project implementation to meet institutional donor requirements and in
accordance with ChildFund, donor, country and international standards;
establishes and maintains appropriate systems and procedures to ensure
compliance with donor contracts. - Oversee
the monitoring and evaluation of grants projects in collaboration with
Finance and implementing partners; ensuring budgets are spent according to
donor proposals and regulations and within the appropriate timeframe and
advising management on required changes or actions. - Manages
the preparation and submission of donors’ and other stake holders’
required reports, liaising with internal stakeholders and as necessary
with local partners and ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met,
are produced to a high standard, comply with guidelines, deadlines,
contracts and other donor requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should hold a MA Degree in Economics, International Development
or closely related discipline. - At
least ten (10) years hands-on experience in program management in general
and at a minimum of three years with a specific focus on grants management
in an International NGO - Proven
experience in developing winning proposals and managing grants from major
donors – USAID, EU, DFID, USAID, SIDA, Ireland Aid and/or others in
Uganda, with clear understanding of the various stages of the grant
lifecycle including pre-award review, grant progress monitoring, and award
closure. - Proven
experience in designing and facilitating capacity building
program/training, coaching and/or mentoring project staff in the basics of
grant management. - Possess
the ability to work under pressure, with minimum supervision, within a
matrix management structure, and with strict deadlines. - Detailed
working knowledge of major donors’ requirements, applicable local
regulatory and legal requirements. - Proven
excellent communication, networking, presentation, public speaking and
interpersonal skills. - Possess
the ability to manage multi-disciplinary team for a successful achievement
of project objectives. - Highly
organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter and results-
oriented individual Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using
Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).
