Job Summary: The
In-Charge Inpatient Unit will be responsible for coordinating and supervising
inpatient unit (IPU) activities for the Care and Treatment of Mildmay Uganda’s
clients including palliative/rehabilitation services for terminally ill
children.

clients including palliative/rehabilitation services for terminally ill
children.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively
coordinate and supervise the provision of quality Nursing services for
children and their families admitted to the IPU - Build
strong linkages created and good collaboration with other stakeholders, so
as to scale up paediatric HIV palliative care - Steer
an efficient and effective team that delivers well-coordinated IPU nursing
services for improved health outcomes of the children and their families - Manage
and account for the assigned organisational funds so as to ensure
achievement of the planned activities of the IPU - Maintain
a beacon paediatric palliative/rehabilitative care centre to build
knowledge and skills of health workers so as to improve
palliative/Rehabilitative care services in Uganda and in the region - Regularly
participate in operational research in order to demonstrate best practices
and contribute to new knowledge - Provide
and maintain High quality nursing services to the children and their
families, guided by Standard operating procedures with the available
resources - Perform
any other tasks as may be assigned by your Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Bachelors in Public
Health OR Bachelors in Community Psychology with Nursing background - A
minimum of two years’ experience in nursing services with 1 years’
experience managing a similar unit/team. - Working
knowledge and experience in HIV Care is required for this job. - Ability
to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of
Mildmay Uganda. - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various Microsoft
office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are
crucial. - Evidence
of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality
and lifestyle is critical.
