Job Summary: The World
Vision Social Behavior Change Communication Specialist will be promoting
behavioral change through the 1000 days preventive approach is one of the key
strategies of GHG project. The Social Behavior Change Coordinator will steer
the design and roll out of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Behavior
Change Communication Strategy in the GHG project for Kotido, Kaabong and Abim.
The incumbent will support the project to develop the capacity to effectively
implement maternal and child health initiatives as indicated in the project
design documents. Special focus will be on implementing key intervention models
and program packages for community based maternal and child health
interventions in Karamoja

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Steer
the leadership and coordination of the planning, implementation and
reporting of the BCC strategy in Kotido Abim and Kaabong - Carry
out formative research to establish evidence so as to inform BCC
interventions and influence policy calls through publications, and local
level advocacy engagements such as local media engagements - Guide
the GHG project to plan and implement BCC in operational areas and conduct
regular support visits to offer technical backstopping for effectiveness of
district level BCC interventions - Build
the technical capacity of the GHG project staff to carryout effective
local level BCC using proven approaches; work with NO and partners to
conduct capacity needs assessments, trainings, mentoring and coaching for
performance. - Work
closely with other actors such as the District Health teams, CSO networks
for partnership and collaboration geared towards strengthening community
level BCC to influence policy formation and implementation as a means to
achieve GHG BCC agenda. - Identify
and support documentation of best practices, and use them to profile the
impact of local level BCC, promote learning and lesson sharing within GHG
and with other actors - Steer
the development , pretesting and roll out of BCC materials such as success
stories, newsletters, BCC messages and other IEC for effective
implementation - Provide
ongoing support supervision to the districts, organize periodic
coordination meetings to review progress, and supervise data collection
and management of local level BCC efforts - Work
with the advocacy teams to compile periodic reports for the advocacy
programs including ongoing projects - Support
the design, implementation of the BCC monitoring and evaluation process
including data use to inform program changes, data collection oversight
and build the capacity of staff in BCC M&E. - Work
closely with MOH-BCC Technical working group and feed new communication
initiatives into the project implementation plan.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate should hold a university degree in development discipline,
postgraduate training in Public Health will be an added advantage. - A
minimum of two or more years field experience in Social Behavior Change
Communication preferably in the field of maternal and child Health
programming - Possess
strong research, advocacy, communication skills, facilitation and
materials development for health promotion. - Possess
excellent collaboration and networking skills - Prior
experience with data driven decision making for BCC - Excellent
writing and documentation skills. - Show
commitment to World Vision Core Values and Vision Statement - A
mature and committed Christian, able to stand above denominational
diversities
