Job Summary: The Danish
Refugee Council (DRC) Monitoring and Evaluation Trainee will be responsible for
monitoring and evaluation of the various programmes implemented by DRC-DDG
Uganda in close liaison with implementing staff, program Managers and the
M&E Officer. The M&E Trainee will be responsible for mixed method data
collection, information management, data analysis, report writing and
continuous development of evaluation and assessment methods.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively
contribute to development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation
for DRC Uganda’s projects country wide in close collaboration with the
M&E officer - Carry
out field data collection including frequent travels to field locations
across the country - Support
in developing tools for data collection, both quantitative and
qualitative, and provide constructive assistance to field managers with
data collection - Assist
in data analysis, drawing accurate conclusions, and present them in usable
form for the country program. - Assist
in drafting finalization of M&E reports, including impact monitoring
reports. - Participate
in/conduct workshops and training within and outside the organization as
may be required. - Be
flexible / willing to take up additional tasks as may be required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the aforementioned opportunity should hold a Master’s degree
in relevant field (e.g. political or social sciences, development studies,
geography) - Proficiency
in English – written & spoken - At
least two years of relevant experience - Excellent
analytical, report writing and communication skills - Demonstrated
knowledge in M&E concepts, incl. practical use of log-frames and
impact monitoring - Proven
experience in quantitative data collection and statistical data analysis. - Demonstrated
experience in conducting interviews and focus group discussions - Keen
interest in refugee matters and humanitarian work and respectful attitude
towards individuals in a vulnerable situation - Commitment
to spend up to 50% of time on field work in West Nile, Karamoja and
Western Uganda - Willing
to be part of a hard working team with ambitions of ensuring monitoring
and evaluation of high methodological quality in order to inform project
development and to ensure organizational learning. - Strong
interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and demonstrated ability to
establish effective working relations with the other team members and
other stakeholders. - Ability
to work under pressure and to work with minimal supervision. - Possession
of Public information & communications skills, including use of
InDesign or other lay-outing software
will be an added advantage - Skills
in GIS is an added advantage
