About LDC:
The LDC has a mandate to
provide legal education to lawyers and non lawyers, undertake research in
topical legal issues, contribute to legal reform, produce legal publications,
teaching materials, law reports and also provide community legal services. Some
of It’s key functions include;
  • To
    provide legal training to lawyers and non lawyers
  • To
    research into topical legal issues and recommend proposals for law reform
  • To
    provide law reports and legal publications
  • To
    provide community legal services
Job Summary: The
Research and Publications Officer will mainly initiate and design research
projects that address major policy issues being confronted by Government,
development partners and the private sector to be executed over specific
periods of time in line with the strategic objectives of the Centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design
    co-coordinated research programes using appropriate qualitative and/or
    quantitative techniques in line with LDC Mandate.
  • Process
    work in progress and present completed research papers at national and
    international conferences or workshops including in-house seminar series.
  • Pursue
    necessary refinements of research papers for submission and publication in
    refereed external journals.
  • Organize
    national and international conferences, seminars or workshops for general
    dissemination of the Centre’s outputs.
  • Actively
    engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of LDC as approved by the
    strategic objectives.
  • Responsible
    for identifying opportunities for the most efficient and effective
    collaborative use of research by other stakeholders such as the private
    sector and Civil Society organizations.
  • Coordinate
    a systematic environmental scanning of available data analysis,
    presentation tools, and “best practice” research models for impact
    assessment and performance evaluation of the Centre’s research findings.
  • Compile
    and send periodic reports to Head Law Reporting, Research and Law Reform
    on the status of assigned, delegated and designated research work.
  • Perform
    any other duties assigned by the Head Law Reporting, Research and
    Publications.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    candidate should preferably hold an LLB (Hons) degree from a recognized
    university. Possession of a Master’s in Law (LMM) or Master’s degree in
    relevant field from a recognized university is an added advantage.
  • Postgraduate
    Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.
  • A
    minimum of two or more years’ experience in research and legal
    publications.
