Job Summary: The Projects Assistant will support the
delivery of CABI Africa projects in Uganda, which involve collaboration with
various partner organisations. The post holder will need to provide effective,
highly competent project support and consistently deliver in a manner which
promotes positive relationships. Also, he / she will support involve both
technical and administrative functions. Technical support will be in the area
of communication and extension, particularly in relation to crop production and
health. Administrative functions will include organising meetings and
workshops, ensuring proper documentation, and management of project technical
and financial documents. This will involve implementing CABI procedures for
project procurement, expenditure, and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer
timely technical project support including activity planning, coordinating
and conducting trainings and/or research with partners, compiling and
disseminating technical information, backstopping project implementing
partners, monitoring project activities, compiling activity reports. - Offer
administrative and logistic support to projects including organising
workshops and meetings, making payments to collaborators and partners,
compiling accountabilities, procurement. - Represent
CABI at project meetings and workshops - Offer
support to office tasks such as maintaining Uganda office asset register,
filing, reporting.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
Projects Assistant should hold a first degree in BSc in Agriculture
majoring in agriculture extension and education option. Possession of a
Post graduate qualification an added advantage - Working
knowledge of agriculture, especially crop production, in Uganda - Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills - Organisational
and administrative skills, including project planning and budgeting - Fluency
in oral and written English - Good
working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and
SharePoint. - Past
experience of working in agricultural related projects with diverse
partners such as local communities, NGOs, government departments, research - Significant
experience of office and financial systems an advantage - Unquestionable
level of personal integrity - High
initiative and self-driven requiring little or no supervision - Team
player - Creative
and innovative - Fast
learner and pro-active personality - Ability
to work with limited direct supervision
