Cheshire Services Uganda is a
nongovernmental organization working the field of disability and development.
CSU works with and for Persons with Disabilities through four thematic
programme areas of Livelihoods, Inclusive Education, Advocacy and campaign,
health and rehabilitation. CSU in collaboration with Leonard Cheshire
Disability has received funding from the European Union to implement a three
year livelihoods project for Persons with Disabilities in Adjuman and Moyo
districts.
Job Summary: The
Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) Manager will be responsible for managing all
activities of the LRCs established for creating livelihood opportunities for
people with disabilities in the local communities. The LRC Manager will manage
a small team based in each LRC as well as managing inputs from part time
specialists.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Work
    closely with the Project Manager set up the LRC
  • Mentor,
    coach and supervise LRC staff and community development workers and
    provide oversight for all project activities;
  • Ensure
    correct and timely implementation of project activities;
  • Build
    and maintain good relationships with key project stakeholders including
    training institutes, government (national and district), employers,
    communities, NGOs, DPOs, INGOs, international donors to raise awareness of
    disability issues and advocate for change in policies.
  • Identify
    and contact potential employers in public, private and NGO sector and
    establish linkages for training, placement, apprenticeship, job shadowing
    etc for LRC graduates, as well as identifying the potential for waged
    employment opportunities (supervising the activities of the Placement
    Officers);
  • Create
    and manage a database of trainees with support from the Finance/Admin
    post;
  • Develop
    LRC plans in conjunction with the LRC support team on various livelihood
    and career/job opportunities available and create a database;
  • Manage
    disbursement of grants for LRC graduates and provide guidance for
    self-employment
  • Contract
    and manage health specialists, external master trainers and counselors as
    required;
  • Develop
    local fundraising initiatives to strengthen the LRC and its activities,
    and contribute to sustainability;
  • Keenly
    track operational budget and provide monthly financial reports to the
    Project Manager on project spend, working closely with the Finance/Admin
    Officer;
  • Actively
    monitor and evaluate all project activities and ensure that all relevant
    data collected and reported correctly
  • Compile
    internal and external project reports in accordance with LCD regional
    office and donor reporting formats
  • Perform
    any other duties that may be assigned by the Project Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should possess a degree in Development Studies, Management,
    Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Works and Social Administration or
    any other relevant field.
  • At
    least two years’ experience in areas relating to training and promoting
    livelihoods at project management level.
  • Excellent
    communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Proven
    report writing skills
  • Computer
    literacy skills
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills
  • Should
    have an understanding of disability related issues
