Job Summary: The Internal Auditor will primarily be responsible
for ensuring financial, operational and compliance audits at PEAS Uganda and
its network of schools across the country. Work is reviewed by the Audit &
Risk Manager and performance is based upon completion of assignments and
results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the
established PEAS performance evaluation system and in accordance with the PEAS
Human Resource Policies & Procedures
for ensuring financial, operational and compliance audits at PEAS Uganda and
its network of schools across the country. Work is reviewed by the Audit &
Risk Manager and performance is based upon completion of assignments and
results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the
established PEAS performance evaluation system and in accordance with the PEAS
Human Resource Policies & Procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regular reviewing the system of internal
controls in order to determine whether they are adequate. - Ensure PEAS Assets are properly
safeguarded and utilized effectively and efficiently; - Ensure Financial transactions are properly
recorded, summarized and reported; and - Ensure PEAS and its network of schools are
adhering to all laws and regulations. - Notifying the Audit & Risk Manger of
internal control weaknesses; - Making audit recommendations to correct
these weaknesses and discussing both the problems and the solutions with
the supervisor; - Updating and maintaining all financial
records/documentation for all audits and reviews performed. - In charge of analyzing data obtained for
evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance,
fraud or lack of compliance with managements policies. - Protect confidentiality of records and
information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use
discretion in sharing such information within legal confines. - Avoid the appearance of conflict, all
requirements of the Professional Ethics regarding conflicts of interest in
employment, purchasing, and other decisions, including solicitation and
acceptance of gifts and favors, and submit in a timely fashion the
required annual disclosure statement regarding employment and financial
interests. - Perform other tasks and responsibilities
as required by the above qualifications or such alternatives as the
supervisor may find appropriate.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The PEAS UK Internal Auditor vacancy
should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA and CPA are preferred with a
minimum of level 2. - At least two (2) years auditing and
financial reporting/compliance with IFRs experience. - Familiarity with IIA Standards and the IIA
Code of Ethics. - Possess excellent organizational,
interpersonal and communication skills. - Communicates effectively in English both
orally and in writing. - Honestly and faithfully audit the books
and records of PEAS and its schools. - Computer proficiency in financial software
and spreadsheets. - Possess the ability to organize work
effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise
independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies
and activities.
